Where Earth Meets Sky

The last couple of nights in my travels, the sunsets have been extraodinary. On the first night, while driving through Iowa, as the sun went down it was enormous on the horizon. You know, the sort of sunset that makes you feel teeny tiny. It's humbling. I took some shots, but driving in a moving vehicle, with the light going down fast... I'm not sure I did the above sunset much justice.

The next evening, as I made my way through Utah, there was a rainy drizzle in the air. And the wind gusts were pretty powerful, making it hard to hold on to the steering wheel. Both hands were required. But the strong wind did something else. It created a haze in the sky. But I'm not complaining, all that dust made for one extraordinary sunset against the mountains.

And wouldn't you know it... directly across from the fading sun, where earth meets sky, the moon was shining bright.

LEAVING MASSACHUSETTS; COME BACK SOON

My world; the usual for me, I get to a destination, drop off cars and leave. So yesterday I arrived near Boston, MA, at a Holiday Inn in Boxborough, to deliver some cars. This load was different though. I was to reloaded the same cars the next day (today). So I decided last night, if I was going to have to come back, why not get a room and stay the night. I wanted to get out of the truck, stretch my legs. I've been in that truck, night and day, since August 6th; running from MI to CA to MI to VA to NY to MA (and now back to MI). I think I deserved it. Besides there's nothing better than a real shower vs. a camper-style shower. And all that living space, compared to my semi-truck. My husband wanted to save the money, and stay in the truck. A small argument ensued, but victory was mine. Afterall, if you've seen his Facebook page, he's always got some sort of so-called "Project" going on. How did he think he could even win this argument with that ace in my pocket? Besides, it was sweet... he thanked me this morning for getting the room. It was exactly what we needed, a small break from the truck. Inside the hotel there was a small restaurant/bar. Although, the food was sort of disappointing. I still enjoyed my sea scallops. Then this evening we reloaded the cars. And, as the sign says, "Leaving Massachusetts - Come back soon" off we went, into the sunset.

Which leads me into the next two pictures, taken in New York, of the beautiful sunset we headed into.

The Bucking Horse and Rider

The bucking horse and rider, an icon for the state of Wyoming. This symbol dates back to 1918 or perhaps eariler. Some believe that the symbol is representative of a legendary rodeo horse named "Steamboat" dating back to the early 1900's. One of the best known bucking horses of all time, Steamboat was known as "the horse that couldn't be ridden." There has been a great deal of dispute as to the image of the man on the bucking horse. One thing I do know... you can't go through Wyoming without seeing this trademark symbol every where. I love this symbol.

I traveled through Wyoming this past week. The weather was perfect. The sky was stunning. The countryside before my eyes seemed endless. I rolled down the window and took this picturesque day, all in.

Eating in Texas

One of my favorite places to stop on my road trips is in Amarillo, TX. They have the best tourist trap there called, The Big Texan Steakhouse. Where if you can eat a 72 oz steak in under an hour... your meal is free! But believe me... that 72 oz steak is HUGE! I would not suggest trying to eat it. I'm quite sure it leaves you with one big stomach ache.
Take a look at the outside of the place. How can you not be curious about this place? It looks so fun!
Not only is the outside fun, but check out the inside. It has a western style to it. With a huge fake cattle head hanging high on the wall. Not to meantion, western arcade games, a souvenir store, and a huge rocking chair.

Then on your way out... you can stop and put your head threw a hole in their signs. What fun indeed! Definately worth stopping by. Oh, and yes! The food is also delicious there!
